Suggested Fonts for Duality by pettyartist Suggested Fonts for Duality by pettyartist
Since we've seen a LOT of font issues still in the entries, I've made a quick and easy font pack that has some readable yet unique fonts inside. :)

To install, just open your fonts folder on your computer and drag the files into it!

Also, if you need SPECIFIC fonts that aren't in here, check [link]

Just make sure it's READABLE! :D

Blambot has an interesting article on comic font rules/traditions [link], and quite a few good fonts designed specifically for comicing. (some of them cost money, but there are quite a few that are useable and free).

I think it'd be a good resource to point the duality community at, since there's always a fair chunk of competitors in OCT's that are interested in the comic business. Using comic specific fonts (and following some of the lettering traditions) can help save space and stuff too, which seems to be a common problem for people when they get to their dialogue.

Please don't upload more font packs, unless you've created the fonts yourself. It makes the font category incredibly messy and genuine typeface designs from dA users are buried by the huge amount of font packs being uploaded. Remember that this is not a file sharing network.

Me neither, though the fact that Comic Sans is often used incorrectly makes graphic designers think the typeface is bad. If they don't think it looks bad, I think they should acknowledge that there's too much of a stigmata to the typeface; it will always be associated with negative things. Arial will never be able to leave the negative associations behind either.

By the way, the fact that so many people dislike Comic Sans is a chain effect. Most of these people don't know a thing about type design and couldn't justifiably judge its design. I think most people have heard someone else say it's bad, and if so many people have something negative to say about the design, it must be bad. People get influenced like that unconsciously. It's herd mentality, and in this case I think it requires genuine knowledge about type design to overcome that.

Definitely. That's also one of the reasons why Helvetica is perceived to be such a great typeface. So it can definitely work both ways.

Don't be ridiculous. Comic Sans is an excellent typeface, if it's used what it was meant for: COMICS. The fact that it's constantly used by amateur designers for just about anything except for comics is what makes the typeface look bad, but it actually has nothing to do with the design.

If you genuinely feel Comic Sans is a bad design and should be banned, then please elaborate on what's actually bad about it.

Sorry, I have Asperger so what I say is often being perceived as me being angry or whatever. However, no emotions are involved whatsoever. I just wanted to inform. Besides, I obviously missed the fact that you meant it as a joke.

It's okay. Sorry if I came across as kinda snappy. I'd had a long day and was frankly miserable as sin when I was on here.

I do accept your point though.

It could be from any category as long as it's readable? Like for example, use a font from the "Script" or "Handwritten"?

On a Mac all you should need to do to install is double click on the font and click install in the preview window that opens.

You actually don't have to put it into a Photoshop folder! Simply Click your Window's home button (or mac) and type in font. Click the font folder and it'll pop up with all the fonts. Take the files from the Duality font thing you downloaded and drag them into the font folder and you've got your fonts!
